Friends of Bowker Creek on SD61 Sale of Ecologically Sensitive Riparian Land

Near the end of the January 24 SD61 Board meeting, the first and second readings of a Bylaw to sell School District land adjacent to Bowker Creek carried 5-4. The third and final reading to approve the sale (Is here any question that it won’t be approved 4-4?) will be on the February Board meeting.

For the sale: Ferris, Hentze, Leonard, Painter, Watters.

Against the sale: Duncan, McNally, Paynter, Whiteaker.

Also against the sale but with no vote: VCPAC President Carmichael, GVTA President Waldron, and hundreds of community members in emails to the Board.

This letter to the Board, early in this process, is published here with permission of the author, Soren Henrich.
